Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of high school after her parents separated to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. She was struggling to get by when she got her first part in the acting world as Rachel's Room's leading character. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the main actor in Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace, who had worked together with Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, wanted to move to film. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl and The Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised her role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was Shannon once more in the show's final episode and two other episodes. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's both a star-gazer and socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family she's the younger sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager, she began to work in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received nominations for a Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). As a single mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee as well as The Big Bang and Hysteria. The other roles she's played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) as well as actors in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and the role of the Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal debuted as a writer and director in 2021, with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
