John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit through his songs of pop-folk and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell new Mexico, but was enthralled by Colorado. He later moved to Aspen. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado have been a major influence on many to move to the state. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be inducted. Today, he is the international face of Colorado. People you meet in different countries, such as New Zealanders. They say "I am originally from Colorado" And they react with Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief time in folk bands comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver discovered that it was destined to turn into a hit once the song was first heard by him. The song was first recorded several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
