Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short period in small folk ensembles. Danoff composed the song in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it. The song was recorded just several weeks after that Washington D.C. performance.
